Title: garret 250 playing silly beggars Post by: legio11augustus on April 27, 2011, 11:26:52 AM hi i wonder if anyone has come across this problem or ,missmags is perhaps done something wrong ,her garret 250 works properly on gold silver ,and 10p and 20p and the like but it rejects 1p and 2p coins....anyone have any ideas would be much appreciated

All of the 1p and 2p pieces minted since the 1992 have an iron core so the garrett is doing what it should. And it's worth noting that the older copper ones are now worth 3.26p in scrap value.

I always thought that the detector would "see" and respond to the outside of the coin which is copper plated(?). It obviously, detects through the target rather than the surface. If that is the case, are we also discriminating out other plated targets? ???

Even if they are plated I think I'd rather the Deus signalled than ignored them. I don't mind digging iron ocassionally especially when it's circular. If I'm in doubt I dig. |
