Title: strange lead piece

going through my scrap box today came across this strange bit of lead well there are two about the same anyone got any idea's. they measure 3in x 2 1/2in x about 1/2 in thick .I think they look like the heels of of a shoe/ clog but never heard of such made of lead

They do look like heel guards for shoes.  Strange choice of metal for that job though. Could put a different view on the adage 'Dragging your Heels'  plus they wouldn't have lasted long. 
 Lead was used for pot mends and many other items that seem unlikely these days so you never know.

I've found similar shaped lead in the past though without the projecting post.  Turns out their "clapper valves" off old water pumps.
Usually attached to a leather flap and acts as a counter weight
