Very nice Herbie, shame its not Saxon but medieval is good Wink and a good weight to it at 27grams, it must of helped it stay in such great condition, including the gilding, top find.

It was found in an area where there was obviously a building previously judging by all the stone, iron and lead found, so am now wondering whether it was a chapel, although the parish church is approx 600yds away so maybe it could have been a rectory??? Strange as it's the second religious item that we've found in about a square mile, the other was a Limoges Reliquary Mount that the Mrs found, but that dates earlier.
Maybe things were buried for safekeeping, many of the buildings in the hamlet were once owned by the local Abbey.

Have added a pic of the reliquary mount.
