I've got a detector and I'm itching to use it!

Ian P:
Hi, my name is Ian and I live in Rumney -  which is at the eastern end of Cardiff.

I've just bought an shiny new detector and I'm desperate to use it. I'd really like to join a club because I'm at the all the gear, no idea stage.    :-)  I've heard about Cardiff Scan Club but I can't find a recent reference to them and their domain name is a clothes retailer(!). Does anyone know if they still exist and, if not, are there any cool clubs near Cardiff?

Thanks.

The Doc:
Hi Ian, welcome to Detecting Wales.

Yes, Cardiff Scan Club does still exist and is active. The website is now here:

http://cardiffscanclub.org/

Although I'm still a member, I've not been very active for several years. As you will see if you check the Cardiff Scan Club section of Detecting Wales, I used to post all the finds updates and look after their website etc.

I had handed over the management of the website to another member, and as you say, the old address seems to have been hijacked so all my old links are now dead sorry.

Ian P:
Thanks Doc - That makes sense.

I'll try to pop along to the next meeting.

Having spoken with Cardiff Council they said I needed Cardiff Scan Club membership to detect on their land.
So that's another reason to attend.

Thanks again,

Ian.

Hi Ian

The meetings are the second Wednesday of the month, in the pub by Victoria Park, opposite Pidgeons funeral home.

They start at eight.

You can at least turn up as a guest - and they might have some spaces available for membership - I can't remember the 'max' numbers, but it wasn't at that at the last meeting.

You get Park passes from there too (these are annual), but you have to be a member of the club to then get the Parks pass.

They also hold rallies at irregular times, and have club land you can go to when it isn't in crop too.

Ian P:
Thanks for the info Probono.

I'll keep my fingers crossed there's a spot open.
