Hi

Found these the other day in a rolled field, think one is a spur and not really sure what the other fragment is? it has a nice dark patina and obviously has some age to it. Any ideas would be great as i'm really scratching my head??? The cut half is just for scale....

cheers

I think its too small for a flintlock hammer, but certainly has that shape to it, it is broken at both ends too. Very good suggestion though, thanks.....

I think the first pic is more likely to be a leather working tool. I can't see how it would work as a spur as there  is nothing sharp (pointy)

I've seen the top item described as a leather-working tool as well, but UKDFD ID's them as pastry cutters. See here:

And sorry, I can't make out from the picture what the other item is. Can you post a clearer image please?

i have to say,in jons defence ,that i was with him that day the field was next to a 13 th cent church,i had already pulled a edward 1st penny  and part of a roman coin from there and there is 2 medi era castles not far away,so the age was there and my first thought was a spur.

There are no spikes on it and if you put any on it there would be no room for it to turn. Definitely not a pastry jigger, totally wrong blade shape (pastry would stick).

No it's not Al and I've used hundreds. The blade is far too small and straight. It's an early stitch marking wheel for leather.
