Probably no chance but does this thingy ring a bell with anyone? Its small, flat, lead/alloy. Penny for size reference.
Thanks
Rob

Here are two more views, top and bottom.
I've looked at it again and whilst its unusually hard and rigid for a thin piece of metal the white oxidation must be lead carbonate so I'm guessing it must be a lead alloy. I don't know for sure where the iron staining comes from I think its from the soil.

The location is coastal and has lots of history.  The farm is in the domesday book. There's a church about a mile away.

Rob is there ant known Roman activity in the area? To me it smacks of a terminal end from a Roman snake bracelet.
Have you done the tin foil test to see if it's silver?

A lot of roman activity in the area. The foil test leaves it grey with no smell.
