Title: Lizzy 3 1/2d Question
Post by: Radnor Bandit (Ian) on March 28, 2011, 06:27:25 PM
Found yesterday, what I believe to be a 31/2d , 3rd issue MM pheon approx >Dia 16mm.
The date appears to be double struck maybe a 6 underneath a 7. Or is it just a engraving error?
Do any of you wiser bods have any ideas ?
Thanks Ian

Nice coin. With mintmark pheon, the dates known for the threehalfpence are 1561, 1562 and 1564. I think this one is meant to be 1562. Here's one a bit similar:

Thank you Peter, It does look like a 7 in the flesh, but as you said MM Pheon wasnt for that date
Many thanks

Lovely wee find mate. Always good to see a Lizzie with a good obverse.
