Thanks for showing Colin, this is the closest coin I could find in Chris Rudds ABC book..... I know its a different die but im thinking its this type? with the horses head turned back.

Colin how is the frog attached to the disc or is it part of it? What intrigues me is that brooches in general were made by either using a metal mould or by using a lead pattern to make a clay mould but of course the majority are in any practical sense only two dimensional whereas your's would have needed a lost wax mould meaning that it could well be the only one ever made.......to a collector it could well be in the four figure bracket Wink

Looking through the loupe Geoff it looks like it has been mounted but not really sure, I can see silver underneath the dark layer but will not attempt any sort of cleaning, I will try to put a better pic on  Wink
