 i found this yesterday,  i thought oh  the end of a buckle,  then i saw these markings on it,, iv'e not seen it before, don't know if anyone else have,

Hi Al,
It looks like a repeated pattern to me......I was hoping for a code though I was ready to get my cipher books out lol.
If it is a part of a buckle it has similar markings to no.35 ( bottom of page) on the website below.

wow,  hey thanks for that Jo,  it do look that way,  sorry i haven't been over for a while, been busey, haven't been there much,

 i thought it had a roman look to it, but then though no can't be, lol
 i gave it a scrape, don't look brass, but Copper alloy,

 now then,   this is the first time on this field, i have found a couple of Roman Grotts a couple of fields in front of this one, owned by a different farmer,  i should get back there next week then sometime realy after he's finnished lifting the spuds this week,
 he'll be ploughing it all soon after that,  should get a couple of visits in realy,

Interesting. I think it is just a pattern, and a Georgian buckle fragment
