Hi everyone,

There is currently no club between Swansea and Cardiff and I know that there is a few detectorist's around Bridgend and Port Talbot. I'm unsure if anyone would be interested in a club but its worth a try and so I am thinking of trying to set one up. I was just wondering if anyone out there has any information or pointers on doing this.

Thank you

George

Hi mate i did start a club while ago in Port Talbot but no enough members and for me was a waist of times,  u need a constitution in place with a chairman , secretary and so on and find a local to accept you for meetings , find land owners who will be ok to have a club dig but if you got a lot of free time why not to create a new club i will join iif you near to Port Talbot.

George, I suggest you merely start with a handful of detectorist friends who are willing to find land for your club, or better still, offer land and also do whatever is necessary to get things running smoothly. You don't really want to start up with members who don't do or provide anything. If you keep membership low initially, the administration will be minimal and can be kept informal. After 12 months or so, you can decide if you want to expand.
