Have been on both good and bad, one the pembs club went on the stubble was that long you could not get the detector closer than 8-9 inch to the ground and they were the better spots i have never heard so many people complain, there was an article published in the Searcher condeming the rally, however none were as good or as friendly as DW rallies

I think I'll stick to the DW rallies! I don't lke the idea of finding "seeded" stuff. I am not a coin collector. Must admit the main draw would be being in the company of many like minded people but you can get that on this site and our own rallies.

I have been to loads of rallies over the years , some are good some are bad and some are b------- awful. All are set up to make money but can be  worth a visit if you are not able to get land of your own. I have been  to some from Yorkshire down to Kent including five day rallies run by the NCMD at Bridlington. We travelled to a few in Kent which were always good for natural finds and on one occasion called in Joan Allens on the way down and in the shop came across two detectorists from Denmark on their way down to the Kent rally with a hand full of English hammered coins they had found in Denmark hoping to sell them to dealers,Danegeld I presume.
One of the advantages of rallies I feel is that you meet some great characters and make some long term friends, some I met over 20years ago at some of Mick Turrells rallies and trips to Guernsey on detecting trips I am still in contact with on a regular basis.
The DW rallies are a good example of this I feel.
