SCAM  DETECTOR.

The U.S. federal court has stopped the sale of the Quadro Positive Molecular Locator after investigators said the device didn’t work. The machine consisted only of a box with an antenna, and “a small piece of polymer-coated white paper, similar to a candy bar wrapper,” an FBI agent said. A $25 version of the device supposedly detected golf balls; an $8,000 version would, the manufacturer claimed, detect any substance shown on a Polaroid picture inserted into the device. As many as 1,000 of the machines were ordered by school districts and police departments for use as a drug detector. (AP) ...The device did prove to be effective at detecting gullible school and police officials.
