Just been told that there is a rally in Warminster on Sunday (Leisure Promotions) , weather forecast is good and it will be on 200 acres of seeded and grass, sounds like prime detecting to me. Can't go myself (working) but thought I would let others know who may be free to go.

If its the farm with the I/A fort at the top its worth having a look to the right of the fort keep right to the edge of the field, I have found some lovely La Tene brooches there and a I/A coin, should be a stater or two there somewhere!  Wink

Hello Max,  i didn't get the name of the farm last time as i wasn't driving and didn't see the info. ,   do you remember it,  this is what iv'e got. :-
Kingsdown Farm,   BA12  7DY  .  their going to be joining the stuardship scheme soon Max,
start at 10 am.  do not arrive before 8.30,  finnish at 4,  cost, £10

iv'e heard that quite a few roman coins were found in the parking area last time after a lot of the cars had gone, which did happen too,  thats what was making me think its the same place,  we were the last to go  lol
and they say its already had 2 rallies on it,

The second ralley  at the other place wasn't so good, and the cars there were parked away from the detecting areas.

what iv'e got also says if your arriving from the south to drive past the entrance go to longbridge devril,  turn around further down and go back to it and cross the road into it,

I tried to copy and paste what iv'e got for you, but it wouldn't work on here or in message

The problem with Lesure Promotions is tht they don't tell you that they have been there before, so i hear. Embarrassed

See what I mean ?
It is just a money spinning job. It goes on even in clubs but it is up to the committee to stop it if they dare.

Some clubs are afraid to stop that sort of thing because 99.9 % are willing to pay to go on land sites,

I am not talking of Rallies, that is a different thing, The farmer has a share in the takes as a choice (which he is entilted to), Sometimes he donates that to his charity or lets the club keep it for thier funds.

.I had a club that allowed the site officer to keep the proceeds of a dig and he made a living out of it. When I found out I was shut up in no certain terms. It is a well known fact that a member should NEVER be allowed to make financial gains while he is still a member but yet he was allowed to do that and invite other clubs out of the district to go too..

All this can be dded either as an addendum or actually written into the Constitution of that club/society during its fomation and can be referred to if anything crops up at the meeting about this situation.

That comes from experience, believe me.   Lips sealed.
