Title: 1811 One Penny Copper Token

Found this today 22/9/11.

Says payable at Bristol, Swansea and London.

Has B B   on it. Anyone seen one before or know what it is?

Didn't need to winkle it. It blasted out a solid signal and would have been found even with a Minelab!  ;D

Just found this write up of it:


2062)      English Bristol Brass & Copper Co., (Somerset) copper penny token 1811. Obverse: Text: “B B & COPPER CO”, surrounded by, “ONE PENNY PAYABLE AT BRISTOL SWANSEA & LONDON”. Reverse: Shield with sailing ship and castle crested with crossed arms above holding scales and a serpent, “VIRTUE ET INDUSTRIA 1811”. Diagonally milled edge. Withers No: 441, Davis Somerset No: 85. Diameter 33mm.
