I think that these rulers will help you when you take pitues of you finds. They are fee so go for it.and put the URL  on to a stick or disk.

I got a stiff piece of cardboard (White) and cut the cm/mm one out and stuck it on the bottom of the white cardboard and did most of my pics putting the coin or artefact close to the upright one and the one across. If that makes sense. I did it on an A4 size but have cropped this pic to fit here but it will give you some sort of idea.
