Hi Jamiidigger, great find, but I feel a little bit of scepticism creeping in !!
Having been involved with archeological digs over the years,it appears to be in remarkable condition, considering the amount of time it's been under the "sod"
I genuinely hope that it is genuine!!.
But thanks for posting 👍

looks to me like the iron has totally perished with just the bronze remaining, including most of the bronze scabbard  Grin

Just 'cause it says 'Iron Age ' doesn't mean it's automatically made of iron. It looks to be bronze from the patina. Remember the Iron Age in Wales was something in the region of 350 years behind the rest of Britain so bronze was still well in use in the 'official' Iron Age. Sure it must have been similar in other places.  Very very nice find.
I don't have a face book page so can't read what was said about it but I'm sure it should be reported and recorded.

" The iron age in Wales was 350 years behind the rest of Britain " ??  Being that there was no such  place as Wales  in the iron age it would be difficult for it to be behind anywhere. Wales has some of the most impressive and important iron age sites in Britain and Europe. I think you need to update your history books Val  Wink Wink Roll Eyes

No one denies the importance of the monuments in what we call Wales, today or yesterday-year. But that doesn't change the fact that it took longer for things to catch on down here. A lot of the population were still bartering animals till well into the 1600's
As far as history books are concerned, we all know they are constantly being up-dated and that's a fact. History, they say, was written by the victors and often didn't reflect fact.

Anyway the sword is still a find to be relished.

For info.... The Sword is currently going through the Treasure process, and The Iron Sword is still in its Bronze Scabbard, The hilt is also bronze... It has survived pretty well for being in the ground for 2000 years....Found in Cumbria Grin
