Title: swapping the coil on a safari Post by: rainyday on April 05, 2017, 07:12:01 PM Do I need to do anything when I swap the coil over on my safari, IE hold any buttons in for the machine to detect a different coil like on the xterra?
thanks in advance D Title: Re: swapping the coil on a safari Post by: Val Beechey on April 06, 2017, 11:23:04 AM Short answer,,,,,,,,NO
Good luck with it, whatever you bought. P.s. I assume you bought a Safari compatible coil ! Just managed to get an hour in, great coil, no falsing, managed to dig £1.21 in the wet sand with the tide in, looking forward to tomorrow to give it a proper go D Title: Re: swapping the coil on a safari Post by: rainyday on April 11, 2017, 05:28:38 PM Just been out in the aforementioned trashy field wIth the new coil, amazing difference, much more stable I thought. Unless it is because the ground Is dryer?

It was an annoying problem I never solved but it was great on wet sand. Minelabs arnt fantastic on fresh plough either. Something to do with air pockets I was told. Still miss it though. Title: Re: swapping the coil on a safari Post by: rainyday on April 12, 2017, 05:47:13 AM It was great on the beach, very stable, just need to get more practical in now to learn those tones :)

I also use the Detech Ultimate on my Safari and occasionally switch to a Nel Big coil, or a Nel Snake; depending on the terrain to be covered. I do have to use a bungee harness for the Safari when fitted with the Nel Big coil and I am unable to swing the thing all day.
I don't yet know why it is that we all seem to experience that period of machine chattering when we first start using the Safari but I liken it to trying to understand the strange language of R2D2. I almost gave up with my Safari and felt like chucking it in a pond but am now getting more used to using it and it is a vast improvement on my C-Scope CS4PI and my EuroAce for beach work. Title: Re: swapping the coil on a safari Post by: rainyday on April 14, 2017, 11:39:43 AM I find it is very stable on the beach, much more than the xterra. I'm still learning the machine at the moment though, I too could chuck it in a pond sometimes :)
I have to use a harness at the moment as I'm having a bit of trouble with my shoulder. D |
