My mate found this 3ins by 3ins made of bronze and has some gold gulding

Well the 'reverse' design is meant to look like castings of 'knife' or 'key' money from China, but I think it is probably a 'modern' tourist thing.

I've been looking at this as well.

I agree with probono about the intended resemblance of the inner design to ancient Chinese knife/key money, and the outside looks like ancient Chinese characters.

Overall, though, probably a modern piece, but I haven't tracked down anything similar yet.
