My wife currently uses my backup machine which is a Whites MXT, she has mentioned to me that it's a little heavy for her so I said I'd ask members for suggestions!

I'm not going to get rid of my MXT as I love it & plan to keep it as a backup so is there anything on the market that's lighter in weight & possibly on a par with the MXT?

I was thinking about one of the Laser machines, maybe a Silver Saber/Hawkeye/Cortes or something, can anyone advise me please what they think.

Thanks in advance

MXT , XLT, DFX are much on a par for weight.

Trouble is the MXT is a good machine and a lower range one from another brand may not satisfy her. T2 is the follow on from the MXT when Dave moved from Whites to Bounty Hunter. Nice and light and all the features she would need. F70 that Maxine mentioned the other week, is a good buy but neither is that cheap and not many secondhand around.

My wife likes the Troy Shadow X3 but they are no longer in production.

Does she want a meter ? If not there's several light machines that have good depth and as Allen says there's some better than expected detectors in the lower price ranges.

What springs to mind is the trident very light very sensitive to the small hammered deep as most heavy machines and deeper with the 10x12 widescan with this coil it,s on par with the Tejhon or  at a bargain price the c-cope 3mx which gives a lot of the more expensive detectors a run for their money both these machines have excellent Iron rejection capabilites and sensitivity to the smallest of finds and are also very lightweight last week there was a trident 1 for sale on garys metal detectors complete with ground balance mod and 12x10 coil in very good condition think the seller wanted £320.00 for it good luck botty  ;)mole

Thankyou Mole & U K Brian, she's after a machine probably from the Tesoro range as she's held a Hawkeye & reckons that they're a lot lighter than the MXT but I'm not really sure which would be the better one!

Do you think any particular one could match the MXT for finds?

As for the display, I don't think she normally looks at it so that shouldn't bother her anyhow!

Thanks Guys

Trident is good but she might find it a bit heavy with the 10 x 12 on.

The Hawkeye would give her a meter to refer to if needed and must be one of the lighter metered detectors on the market . If you got her one you could do a comparison test between it and the MXT, hint, hint.
Its a cut down, easier to use version of the Cortes.

All the older C-Scopes (CS2 MP, CS5 MXP) work O.K. but they are on the heavy side. At last they have addressed this so the 3MX should be a contender. You could have a brand new one for less than the price of the Hawkeye.

You will have to get her down to a rally so she can try a few . Best of luck !

Hello Botty (Kris) if the missus decides she can handle the weight of the mxt what about the whites m6 I use this machine to compliment my goldmaxx mk1 and explorer 11 it slots in nicely between the two it,s a lot easier to operate than the mxt only having the coin and Jewellery mode no relic or prospecting making it a lot quieter in operation I run it in the audio disc the last couple of rallys I,ve taken it and the explorer switching halfway through the day always finding more than with the explorer Huh Shocked  very happy with it Grin ;)mole

Just a thought but Birtydigger on the Minelab Owners forum has just reduced his Hawkeye thats supposed to be in perfect working order but "a few scuffs" by £50

So its now £250 including Big Blue headphones.
