Thats an interesting one - the holes look like they are there to be sewn onto something. With the receiving hoop - I would take a guess at being the receiving end of a hooked Tudor tag. Certainly looks to be silver.

The holes are to neat for ancient and my bet its foreign silver .......but not sure of its purpose ...Factory made ?

I can see what Neil is thinking and it is a temptin isea but what is that little attachement on the back of the ring for ??
Could it have been a pin attachment ??

It may be a silver pilgrims badge? iv seen them simliar but not sure on the loop, nice if it was  :)

i've recently recorded a slightly similar shape, but whether it had the same purpose, i'm not sure.

my guess is its a brooch and the holes are where stones used to be ....

It could have been a brooch and a pendant combined. Popular, I believe, late 1800's onwards. But don't quote me.
