Author Topic: Pilgrimage To St Winfrede"s Shrine At Holywell  (Read 1766 times)

I made a visit to St Winfrede"s Shrine at Holywell last year because of one of my reference books told me it was
third most visited shrine in Britain during the middle ages. The spring supposedly came about after the miracle of
St Winfrede being brought to back life, after having her head cut off in 7thc. A nice Gothic Medieval chapel stands over the spring. It is said that hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have visited this site. The questions I woluld ask
were pilgrim badges been sold here? Where were the ancient routes to this site and St Davids?. Where were pilgrims
fed and watered.? There must be good finds to be made.
