I've written a letter template for requesting permission to detect on a farm. any ideas on the format or content I'd appreciate. Hope this helps.

Thats very good letter Rob and would be ideal with big estate owners & managers.But a phone call to smaller land
owner to explain a bit about yourself and your hobby would be suffice for a meeting take place.to hopefully to gain

totally agree with you spooty , i only ever phone, then pop down the farm for a chat. Someone did ask for a letter format though. So I thought I'd type one up to help the tools/research section. Grin

That's a nicely written well thought out letter Rob, thanks for posting it. I normally approach the farmers face to face too, but for anyone who is a little shy that will be useful.

Very good letter mate, the only thing taht I would change would be that I'd personally introduce myself to the farmer & leave the letter with him.
