Hi Peter,

Unfortunately only a fragment, and I think it's DIVA FAUSTINA, but I can't seem to find the right match on Wildwinds. RIC 394a, RSC 234, BMC 311 looks close, but the reverse lettering on  PIE-TAS AVG doesn't look right. Got any ideas?

Well, I think you are correct with the reverse legend 'Pietas Avg'

The obverse legend seems to be 'DIVI AVG FAVSTINA', with her draped bust right (certainly not veiled).

There's a variety with Pietas veiled standing left, with a candelabrum rather than the usual altar - this is RSC 237, BMC 315, RIC 395c. Your's could be this one - there aren't that many types for Faustina I.

By the looks of the break on the coin I reckon the other half is still probably in the hole Smiley

Nice going Tony and as Roland says that break does look very recent so get back there and find the other bit.
OOH! you might want to ask Handyman for a lend of a real detector to look for it  Cheesy

I thought the same and had a good old trawl through the dirt with the pinpointer too, no joy I'm afraid. Still, I might go back and re-check with the big-coil as I was using my stubble basher at the time  Grin

Many thanks for the help guys.
