I'd still get in touch with trading standards and Garrett , just incase they are not aware of him,
and he is only  just saying that

I think that Regton did just that some time back. ;)  Jerry.

I was up visiting Nigel at Regton last week and he informed me that all the fake Pro-pointers he has seen have one thing in common and that is the switch cover, while authentic models have a flexible rubber cover the fakes (so far) have a far harder plastic one ;)

You pay for what you get!

Nothing worse than it failing to vibrate when it's in the hole!  ;D

Yes there still about and many people get caught out...if it sounds cheap there's a good reason answer is to buy from a reputable dealer job done, good to warn people Roaljodaka.  ;)

I'm not bothering with a garrett next time, going to try one of those xpointers. Had 2 Garret pointers now, one with a falsing problem and one with a dodgy switch which I replaced myself.

Garrett pro pointer is very over price and build quality is poor for the price  (hence why we try and get it cheaper), i am on my second one since Christmas sending the first one back due to falsing, which seems to be a common problem as well as a poor on / off switch.
The wife has just started using a X-pointer and seems to like it , but i think like many things made for metal detecting i don't think it's built to last. Roll on the day when a pin pointer is made that is cheap, well made and fit for purpose. I certainly will not buy another Garrett pointer , if nothing else takes my fancy may well go back to not using one like the good old days

I had a garret for ages and liked it. Then I modified it so it was wireless to save me taking my headphones off, so now only use it if I'm using wireless headphones on my T2.  I then bought the Nokta probe from Crawfords. Its okish when the battery is fresh but it drains very quickly and loses range very quickly.  A few weeks ago I bought the PI Xpointer from detectorbits for £65. Its really good, not quite as good as a garret but much cheaper.  On the land I detect on the Xpointer falses a lot even at the lowest setting so finding small stuff is a problem

fake garrett probe eh ,, I might buy 1 if they work better than the original 1s fed up of mine falsing all the time im now on garrett no2 with the same problem,,im finding far easier just to bang a lump of dirt out the hole and run it under the coil.

A couple sellers on ebay are bulk buying cheap Chinese Garrett knockoffs from Aliexpress, and then selling them on as originals.
Beware !

Put up the links or Ebay usernames and we can make Ebay and Garrett aware of the issue. I've also seen Chinese detectors that are obviously copied on the Garrett Ace model.
