Title: Jetton? Post by: Andre on September 29, 2017, 09:05:08 PM Not much detail left, very thin.Still a good find, never had one.
Went out today, the weather has been horrible last few weeks. Title: Re: Jetton? Post by: dingdong on September 29, 2017, 11:55:36 PM Well done!!..you say not in good condition..and on taking a second look i have to concur with Val, It certainly does look a bit "Tokenish". Say I certainly wouldn't look that good after being in the soil for that long .. LOL 😁...good hunting..👍
Title: Re: Jetton? Post by: Andre on September 30, 2017, 07:03:05 AM Thanks mate.
I've been digging out more ferrous targets and sometimes you get nice surprises, plus I'm detecting on the bald patches made by the cows so I grid search more. Most of my permissions are still full of crops... Title: Re: Jetton? Post by: Dungbeetle on September 30, 2017, 07:08:40 AM Looks like a 17th century trade token to me, but very worn
Title: Re: Jetton? Post by: Andre on September 30, 2017, 07:19:38 AM And thin, the tone on the machine was very bad
Title: Re: Jetton? Post by: Val Beechey on September 30, 2017, 07:21:10 AM Very good find Andre but I agree with Dungbeetle. It looks more like a token but a very nice one.
I've not seen a Jetton with letters stamped on it but I'm only going by what I remember seeing when I was researching the one I found so could be wrong. Title: Re: Jetton? Post by: Andre on September 30, 2017, 08:23:52 AM Yes,I think you’re right.
When I found it,I could barely see the inscriptions and very fragile,so I dabbed it with a bit of Vaseline and pop the lettering appeared. It sounds like iron but with a bit of iffy copper like tones,if you know what I mean.. Title: Re: Jetton?
