Title: ID if possible please
Post by: ysbytymike on December 10, 2011, 03:47:16 PM
Found this as my first signal of the day. Turned out, the site was covered with WWII bullet cases so it was the only
interesting find of the day.

This item is tiny - only 11mm in diameter. I'm pretty sure the letter to the left is a 'V' and the one in the middle is an 'M'... I think!

Cheers

Its a tiny coin shaped object with what appears to be excessive corrosion as if its been in the ground a long time. Its approximately 1 to 1.5mm thick
Thought I might have at last, found something to connect my farm to the Romans who were very busy just a few miles away over the ridge.

The name on the coin appears to be 'George' but does the bust have a line through the hair like some kind of band!

george -- can you see the date under the bust -- it begins 18 - -   probably an 1806/7 halfpenny
