Title: Roman Ring
Post by: celticspikey on November 21, 2015, 08:41:50 AM
Hi guys, well after one day of getting soaked and another of getting blown of my feet, yesterday was a day of chilling westerly winds. I only had a couple of hours detecting but managed to pull up this nice bronze roman ring, I'm sure it would have looked the business in its day mind you after over 1500 years in the soil it still looks good. ;)

That's a bit special Paul.   Is the stone carved  or is it just broken ?

Thanks Val, I thought it was a carved but it looks like it's tiny pieces of glass individually set?

That's interesting Paul. Does it form a pattern/design.  How about a pic of it all cleaned up.

A superb find there young man. After braving that bone chilling wind in open country, you deserve it.

As for the stone; I got to wondering if it had been shattered by an impact, but the the pieces have been held in place by the ring it's self?
