Title: Hurrah ... i'm up and running!
Post by: handyman [Alan} on February 10, 2014, 05:45:13 PM
Ventured out for a few hours on a very boggy, soggy, muddy field, this afternoon.

I was well chuffed with the outcome as well.

Enjoy this little gem, with both the dirty and clean version!

Cheers

that seems to be the general opinion.

More interestingly, i seem to recall reading a research paper last year on 'holed' coins, which appears to identify that the majority were holed from the head side. [Damned if i can find it now!]

You really don't need a research paper to work that one out ::) the commonest sovereigns whose coins are used as ornamentation tend to be Mary, Charles I, Commonwealth and James II all of which had "supporters" who may have wished to wear some vestige of their past allegiance...basically Mary and James for religion and Charles and Commonwealth for the politics and the easiest way to ensure you don't put a hole through their head  would be to pierce it from that side. I wonder how much time and money they spent on that "vital" bit of research, was it for a PhD? maybe a key stage 2 general knowledge test would have served them better :D :D :D

I don't think that was a joke knowing the yanks it's probably true, like the yanks spending millions of dollars on a peice of kit to find trip wires in the caves of Afganistan that took 4men to carry, what did the SAS use to do the same job? Cans of silly string.
