I have seen reports that it might be worth £1million, if they offered me that I would ask them to go back to the drawing board, in my humble opinion the bar with the writing on quoting the saxon verse is worth that on it's own!
We won't know for a while , but just for fun have a guess or put your opinion down.
My guess as to the market value of the total would be £6 million, what do you think?

Knowing the way the sytem works it will probably be well under valued . My guess would be 2.4 million . I agree with you on the  saxon verse , to me it is the most noteworthy part of the horde

Amongst the 1500 items recovered are 84 bejewelled sword fittings, these have been given a minimum value of £10.000 EACH so that's at least £840.000 to begin with. Smiley

Please God let it be my turn next......... Smiley Smiley

Do you mean the Valuation the Treasure committee will put on it .....or do you mean the real value, I don't think the two values will have any resemblance of each other.  Wink

This is abeautiful Shocked and very valuable find  Shocked but more than that it,s a find of national importance the dark ages being the most elusive and misunderstood part of british history ???and it should be treated as such by being put on permanant display and the finder and landowner a fair reward because I think it,s worth at least 2.5 Million POUNDS STERLING Shocked good luck to them if they get it resolved within two years Huh

I would guess about 7 to 8 million but the slow process of declaring treasure may move the price up or down as it takes a while and I am sure there will be appeals, claims, counter claims etc, etc. So do not expect it sorted for a while.
