Keep banging them rocks together

« on: November 28, 2011, 07:21:03 PM »

I recently posted a question regarding GPS recording devices for find spot recording. Geoff recommended a little gizmo called a travel tracker currently being sold at Maplins for £35.
I bought one the other week and am now having fun playing with it.
i have attached a photo of a track I did yesterday of approx 4hrs concentrated search of 1 field. The tracker was cable tied to my detector shaft. Though the track deviates slightly from my actual path in places , all in all a good little gizmo for the price.
The field is a modern fete site and doing a thorough search in one part of the field I found 9/3d in early 20thC small change and a lovely complete small crotal bell with iron pea still inside (photo to follow)
Again many thanks to Geoff for recommending a simple and economical solution.

I'm glad you found it OK Ian, I've found if you shorten the gap between log times in the settings, then that improves the track and stops it wondering off into the next field

I will experiment with that Geoff , I am still using the factory settings at the moment . i am quite impressed where it can pick up the signal. the other day it slid off the car dashboard into the footwell and still logged some of the journey from under the seat . (green ticks)

Won't the farmer complain about all those purple lines over his field?   Cheesy

And the fact you've dug a hole left it unfilled and stuck an Orange flag in it!!
