You can try spit and silver foil on your florin although it looks pretty solid with crud. After that try soaking in virgin olive oil then removing crud with a cocktail stick or bamboo bbq skewer.

Not sure of the year but it isnt a solid silver coin, probably post 1937 so silver paper wont do much.

Gentle cleaning with a soft tooth brush will get most of it off but it may also take away some of the surface detail with it.

I would just put on a little light oil and let it settle for a bit. Freezing it in some soapy water can have a good effect sometimes. When you defrost it, the crud comes off with the melt water.

Nice little collection you've amassed off that site Zeus, ground hasn't been too kind to them though but that happens with certain sites. All part of the game.
I like the florin, Its obviously not post 1937 as it's George V who died in 1936. I would go with Dodgers advice but bear in mind that soaking can take weeks or months, so pop it in a pot with olive oil and forget about it.

the date on the Florin is 1923. Someone said last night at the club meeting to try electrolysis ?? just bought a kit off ebay for £8 so will see when that arrives.
