Title: Lost Wedding Ring Vale of Glamorgan - request for help!
Post by: Neil on October 28, 2013, 09:47:34 AM
Morning all

A friend of a friend has managed to lose his wedding ring (white gold) in a farmers field whilst carrying equipment to a marquee he was playing at in the Vale of Glamorgan. He's pretty sure of the small area he may have lost it in and has sought permission from the field owner to search it.

Unfortunately I am unable to help locate it at the moment due to my knee flaring up again and I simply can not kneel on it.

Anyone out there able to help find it? If so drop me a PM and I'll send you his mobile number.

Thanks for your help guys and gals.

Cheers
Neil

I'm retired these days, so I can probably make it tomorrow Neil, (as long as its not chucking it down).
If its not been found by end of play today, perhaps you could send me details tonight.
Mike

As Ray is saying, starting to look a little silly guys....think 4 people is more than adequate to look for one ring in a given area.

Good luck guys, hope you find the ring. It's a shame I'm away for a few days as I only live down the road from the circuit, literally half a mile away  :-\ .

Hi Nobby,

We had 12 peeps on Port Eynon and we were still unable to find any trace of the lost ring. From past experience things
are rarely where your told they are, so the more the merrier and it'll mean were able to cover a wider area more effectively.
This is not a rally, if the ring is found the day ends there. Its some people with spare time being prepared to help out a member of the general public, which
in turn will demonstrate our hobby in a more accurate way that is sometimes portrayed in the press.

Mike

Not dampen anyones spirit Mike , im thinking of the farmer/landowner......whats his opinion going to be when a hoard of detectorists decend on his land ???

Understand perfectly Nobby, not a problem mate.
I know a few of the Swansea members are making a day of it by going to one of our club
sites close by after the search, but if the farmer will only allow a certain number, those people will probably just go straight to the club site.
See you all 10am tomorrow guys/gals.

Mike

I do remember the event. Your car wouldn't start and I had to tow you onto the road off the mud. Was that two years ago?
I found my first hammered that day, along with a lovely intaglio and a medieval pewter ring.

Excelent memory Geoff re. Lizzy.
Yep I remember you walking to garage for leads and if memory serves me correctly, they were pretty good quality lead for a garage shop.

Nobby, Nobby, Nobby... I put  a map there mun!

Afraid the search was again, unsuccessful. The field where the gentleman parked his car had been ploughed and with all the rain was very 'sticky'.
We covered the area quite effectively but to no avail. We then went to the field where he was playing in a gig and had unloaded all his gear but again conditions
were far from idea, with quite long grass and lots and lots of contaminants in the ground, which saw my machine blanking out a lot of the time.

A big thanks to all those who turned up to try to help, (including those who tried) ;D ;D.
Well done all.

Mike

Always loved the Healeys, back in the mid seventies I bought a Healey 3000 for £1200, a real eye turner, wish I had it now, also bought a Jaguar Xk150 (in poor condition) oh for the days when british car makers could show the rest of the world how to build quality cars,
