Title: Any info appreciated.....
Post by: cadzy on December 14, 2009, 07:00:45 PM
Found this silver strip the other day along with some other bits 30~40yards away, looks like someone was making something out of it (see the bit with the lion on it and the other bit they have started to cut) has anyone any info?

I have found something similar before - machine turned silver. I think yours may be off the handle of a walking can, riding crop, umbrella etc.

Nice find - silver is silver in my book and always makes the day worthwhile!

Couple of nice finds Cadzy, not sure if i worked out right but the Hallmark looks like London 1883,I'd agree with Neil does look like a walking stick or riding crop Ferrel, maybe the cut mark is where something heavy has pressed down on the Lion head piece and cut in to the other part ?,The lion head looks very much like the monograms on old silver spoon's and might be a reworked spoon handle ?
