Title: Beach Finds - Brixham and Teignmouth 9th May . . .
Post by: Neil on May 13, 2009, 05:18:24 PM
I was away for a long weekend with friends and managed to get a couple of hours in on Brixham beach. I took my old X-Terra 30 with me and I had genuinely forgot what a fun and deep machine this is. The one Edward penny was at least 12 inches plus on shale. I was suprised at the amount of Vicky, Ed's and Georges that came up, as well as a 1942 shilling. I am sure theres a lot more on that beach, but time and wives were against me!

Onto Teignmouth on the Monday and the beach there was a tad more predictable with numerous fishing weights - about 15, a couple of quid in modern coinage and bizzarely an old bottle top that had a cracking clay pipe sticking out underneath it.

Great weather, great company and far too much booze!

Neil

The fishing weights are worth their weight in lead! I use scrap lead for fishing weights so they would be an oka find. My uncle has a holiday home in Teignmouth he has offered me the use of so I plan a few visits there myself....I just need a way of sneaking the Quattro into the suitcase.....any ideas? I love beach detecting...my favourite...

The sand must have been really moved by the tides for the clay pipe to come up - and the shilling has sure seen better days!  Could have been quite a bit more there - shame you didn't have more time Neil.  I love beach detecting - especially finding the 'shiny' stuff - I know, I know, it's a 'girly' thing  :D :D
