Title: Re: BUCKLE Post by: Debbie on January 18, 2010, 09:51:46 AM Nice shaped buckle Ray - good addition to the collection - I find it really interesting to see all the different sizes and shapes of buttons and buckles through the ages.
Also, it is always good to date buckles and buttons so that you get an idea of what coins you may come across on that site too. Title: Re: BUCKLE Post by: saxonman on January 18, 2010, 11:21:22 AM I would say 17th century.great find.Well done.....I love buckles, they can tell you a lot dont they Debs.
Title: Re: BUCKLE Post by: Debbie on January 18, 2010, 01:17:58 PM You're right saxonman - buckles and the like show that there has been a lot of to-ing and fro-ing across an area - the more people using a site, the more chance of finding coins and artefacts. I was thinking about this the other day, and in fact mentioned it to Si and Jo yesterday - it's just a numbers game really. I know a lot of people zoom across the bridge into England, as the finds rate is higher. There was a greater population throughout the ages in England, so therefore more items are lost/found. We just have to work that bit harder in Wales to find the fewer goodies :D
