Popped out yesterday with Mike hunting the old pasta eaters.

In fairness Mike managed to locate three of them where as I only came across a tourist who broke a fibula!

Other finds included a decent "Iron" Georgian shoe buckle and a early military/militia button.

Lovely day out in glorious sunshine and great company.

Any ID's on the Roman please?

Cheers
Neil

Nice finds. The larger Roman is Claudius Gothicus with Genius reverse.

One of them is this:-

Constantine I. Trier. CONSTAN-TINVS AVG, helmeted, cuirassed bust right. VICTORIAE LAET PP, two Victories holding shield inscribed VOT PR over altar. Altar type Helv. 5a (star within a frame). Mintmark: STR. RIC VII Trier 229 var (unlisted officina).

the other is:

Claudius Gothicus AE Antoninianus. Rome, 268-270 AD. IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG, radiate, cuirassed bust right / GENIVS EXERCI, Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopiae. Sear5 11340.

Although interestingly a 'variant' type of local manufacture was found at the Llanederyn hoard (according to wildwinds)

Need a better picture of the sestertius to id it.
