Strange copper? square seems to be quite old has four pins on each corner. Could be made out of bronze I don't think they're made out iron because they're not rusty. Possible belt mount? harness mount? Go to the bottom of the page and study them. You might see one that looks likely.
The square thing looks like a patch with 4 rivets. Very strange item ??? ;D
