Title: Out again yesterday, another two interesting finds
Post by: BeachHunter101 on January 25, 2019, 02:38:40 PM
Possible lead trade weight? (very heavy) Does anyone know the age please?
Strange copper? square seems to be quite old has four pins on each corner. Could be made out of bronze I don't think they're made out iron because they're not rusty. Possible belt mount? harness mount?
Thank you  8) ;D

Can’t help with an age on the weight but suggest you have a look on Colchester Treasure, Trade weights. Go to the bottom of the page and study them. You might see one that looks likely.
The square thing looks like a patch with 4 rivets.

Thanks again Val, I've looked on there and there are some that look very similar  :) and yes it does look like a patch, but it's made out of copper. Very strange item  ??? ;D
