Had a nice day out in sunny Oxfordshire with DaveHa & the Merrimans yesterday. One field was pasture, easy digging with a layer of bedrock about 10 inches down and very productive all in all, everyone had a good selection of coins
We spent 2 or 3 hours there and it produced a nice 1876 Farthing amongst other finds for me (I dont seem to find many farthings for some strange reason) and it also produced a 1746 half penny which is probably the best George II copper I have to date as they just seem to dissolve
No silver for anyone this time
The other farm was extremely stoney, very mineralised and when we tried the Minelabs on it last time they refused to ground balance, but this time with XPs it produced a nice roman brooch complete with spring, although broken, pitted and missing it's catch plate, the spring still freely moves
Quality British or Italian engineering after 2000 years
Deus showed a GB of 65 at one point
never seen it run that low before...
Looking forward to them cutting some of the hay soon...
