Can you help with a rough date for this weight please Doc?

Also, what could the A stand for please?

It weighs in at ⅞oz.

That is lovely Botty, fantastic condition. Look at the link and you will see a similar one , I don't know what the mark is on the left hand side but must relate to the monarch at the time. Anyway this one explains the marks , more or less.

i got one from charles the second your is better condition i like these as they show some trading in area

I think the mark on the left is a poorly struck Crown over G, so dates from the reign of one of the Georges I-IV.
