What a day we had today !
There was a bit of a chill in the air as we met at Tesco's in Chepstow at 9.00 am, ready for a 9.15 departure.
23 Cardiff Scan Club souls turned up, and at 9.15 prompt all the engines revved, and we were soon on our way on the A48 to the farm that Steve Beverstock had secured for our rally.
We all parked in a 50 acre field, part ploughed and part stubble.  Other pasture fields were availale, leading down to the Severn.  Most of the finds were found in the ploughed/stubble field.
Within 5 minutes of turning his detector on, Stan The Man found a token and we were off!

Now, in no particular order, here are some of the finds today - forgive me for not knowing everyone's name, and please feel free to add on additional posts of any finds that I have not mentioned:

George III Shilling, 1816  (Stan The Man);
Charles II Half Crown
Charles I Royal Farthing
Charles I Rose Farthing (Albert)
Roman Finger Ring with glass
Celtic Silver Half Unit
Roman Circular Brooch with blue enamel/glass (Mike)
2 x Half Groats  (Rob)
1941 Half Crown (Dennis)
Another hammy - not sure what it is yet
Heraldic Pendant (Johnny)
Pendant ( Tom)
2 x Broken Roman Fibulae (Mike and me)
Lots of bronze Roman coins, found by many members
Nealy everyone had something of some age to take home with them today.
Lots of buckles and buttons.

A great day out, the sun shone, the digging was easy and again, it was nice to see the newer members joining in.

To end on a sad note - a rescue helicopter landed in the field we were in in response to a diving accident at the quarry diving centre just outside Chepstow - unfortunately, the diver didn't make it.  It was quite a sight to see the helicopter manouvre so skillfully as it landed and took off.

See you all at the next rally! Wink

Afraid not Stig - apart from my mobile phone, which has a basic cameras (no zoom), I didn't have a camera with me. Some of the guys and girls may upload some pics later.
