Hi guys, this was dug up by a mate on a roman site Shocked, some time ago. He was showing me some old finds and I came across this in his display case, he thought it was modern ? for my money its a cracking bit of ancient gold Roman, I initially thought it was an earring but if straightened it would be symmetrical. It mite be just one of those finds that can not be precisely I'D in respect of its original usage.......appreciate your thoughts thou Wink

Oh now that is beautiful not a clue what it is but beautiful all the same, if it's Roman then I'd say it's very late into the Byzantine period and possibly early Saxon.
As Alan says 14 days now it's been posted Wink

At that size it could be a hair pin.  Whatever, it's beautiful.
