hello peeps if you are new to the etrac i recomend a book called the minelab explorer and etrac handbook by andy sabish .i am half way through reading it and it is really demystifying the various settings and how to tweak them on various sites to get the best out of the etrac.i was getting a bit cheesed of to say the least with the etrac especially at beaches because i am a bit bit of an overkeen numbnut who never reads instruction manuals and just wants to rush out and find stuff, but after a quick read of this book i made a few tweaks on the minelab coins mode and i jumped into a local random field, with in about 5 mins a had dug my first target which was a 1914 penny.after 2 hrs i had recoverd a total of 5 old pennies at depths of over 10'' plus which all gave a lovely signal.i cant wait to finish reading this book and get back out there.long way from mastering the etrac but this book will definatly help.good luck peeps.mike Smiley

It is a good book Mike and gives you a good insight into the features of the Etrac, but please remember it has a heavy American bias and unfortunately neither our coins or our soil are like that of the states.
There are only a couple of programs that have been proved to work the best in the UK, one for inland and one for beaches and my advice would be put them in leave them alone and LEARN them.
Should any one want them, send me your email address and I'll send you the files so you can download them by using your etrac exchange program.

Just copying it of the other computer for you Rob. What do you mean a "link"? the exchange program comes with the etrac on a disk. Have you got the disk?

In that case you will have to get one from Minelab send them an email or ring Finbar on free phone.08000564246 and they will sort you out.
I will email you the paper version.

to start with as an etrac newbie myself i would stick with the minelab programs for a bit .i think it will take me a long time to click with it, but i am starting to find better stuff with it since i have been going out at night and not relying on the smart screen ( not turning backlight on ) but training my years to make the decision to dig or not .the advice i was given was you need at least 100 hours under your belt before you learn your machine. cheff is the guy to talk to he is very knowledgeable on all aspects of tecting and if you ask him he will probably email some programs.if i get any programs i will also email you them.happy hunting .mike Smiley
