Title: Lead object and coin ID please
Post by: charlieboy on February 24, 2012, 10:37:05 PM
Hi All

At last the days are starting to get longer! Just enough daylight to sneak in a quick half hour detecting after work today.Found this odd looking object (lead I assume) looks as though someone has filled a large spoon with molten lead and let it set, also appears to have quite a few 'deliberate' looking scratches on it.

Also found this coin; it's a similar size to a George V penny and you can just make out a picture of  a shield - any ideas?

Hope you can help
Cheers

Charlie  ;D

Pretty sure the top one is a palm guard, they come in all shapes and sizes, fit in the Palm to push a needle through leather ect.

Thanks for the replies Tafflaff and nobby. Palm guard is another first for me - and thanks for confirming the identification of the very rare shelid coin haha  ;D

Palm guard for sure and the second is a token - if memory serves me from Birmingham.

Nice post

nice finds charlieboy. Your posting and the id's have helped identify my lead find. I was going to throw this away today but luckily I saw your post just in time ! ::)

Looks like this may be a handguard too.
