Post by: MarcB on October 12, 2015, 11:12:55 PM
Is there anyone from the Rhyl area that I can ask some questions?

Many thanks

Sorry the double post. Has anyone had any experience detecting farm land in the Rhyl and surrounding areas?

Hello there.

You seem to be doing everything right regarding your research. Not detected Rhyl myself but our club detects in the Denbighshire/Flintshire area.

You can find things in the most unlikely of places where you think you would not find anything, and where you would think there would be plenty of things to find you can walk away at the end of the day with nothing but scrap, It can be like that.

Research can only get you so far, a good dollop of good luck and persistance gets you the rest of the way  ;D

Best bet is for you to attend one of our club digs as a guest and then you can chat to some of the local guys who can hopefully give you some information and advice.

If you havent got a detector I'm sure we have someone who could loan one to you for the day.

Pm me if you fancy a guest dig.

Hotmill

Thank you both for the replies.

Very keen to have a go and thank you des for the offer. I've been looking at the 250 or the Eurotek pro.

I've replied to your message Hotmill

I'm just recovering from a bad knee injury, I think going out this Sunday might be a bit too much too soon. I've only started walking properly again without crutches. I'm only 33 and I swear my body is falling to bits due to old football injuries haha

I really do appreciate the offer so soon. I've had nothing but great info and help since I've joined.

We normally have a club dig every other week, so let me know when you're feeling fit enough.

Hi Marc I have detected in both the Rhyl and Prestatyn areas on various farms but it can be very hit and miss as to what you find, it can vary a lot in just one field from one side to the other but that is the fun of detecting. Hope you take our club offer up and enjoy it.

Hi all, I'm looking to get started now that my knee is a lot better after some extensive physiotherapy. Any club digs coming up?

Nothing until January, and no firm day for that yet. We'll keep you posted.
Glad the knee is better.

No worries, I'm currently in talks with a farm manager up in Denbigh. I might have my first permission to start on once my Eurotek starter pack arrives from unearthed.

So I didn't end getting the Starter pack from unearthed. I just bought a 2nd hand Teknetics eurotek pro with an 11" dd coil from eBay for £130.00.
So I already had my first land permission and now I have the detector on its way 👍
