Title: tokens Post by: ROMAN STEVE on June 21, 2009, 09:19:31 PM when i find old pennys i throw them but when i find a token i like to try and find out the history behind it .Well here is the history behind this one .Holders grand concert rooms 88,89,90 coleshill st ,Birmingham.This music hall was opened on the 24th june 1846 by henry holder who was the proprietor of the rodney inn at no 87 next door it was then known as the holders hotel and concert hall it had many changes of proprietors during its time Soward and Gardiner, John soward ,junior ,john judd and company who changed the name to the birmingham concert hall,and phillips and chowles.In 1886 charles barnard became the proprietor,and changed the name to the gaiety concert hall it closed in 1920 popular music hall of high esteem seating capacity 3,500 it had a fine organ played by mr sola.Patrons had to be properly dressed and wear top hat s before being allowed admission it must have been a posh place for it s time .All i want to know is how it ended up in a field in hereford?
