Title: 140513 - rain, what rain?
Post by: handyman [Alan} on May 14, 2013, 12:19:16 PM
LOl -- well i managed a good mornings detecting before the deluge arrived. Some interesting finds nonetheless.

Most interesting of all is the thimble, made of a very light alloy with the inscription "FORCE ME NOT". Over the past weekend i found another thimble very close by to this one and its made of same light alloy. [see pic below].

A nice crotal bell fragment, the usual buttons and the last signal of all, was a cut half of Henry, [but which one!]

So, after a mornings hard work, its now off to the gym, sauna and hottub!

Enjoy

Well done Al, nice little collection. But I got to tell you that one off the commonest motoes on Victorian/Edwardian thimbles was

"FORGET ME NOT"
[/i]

"Force me not" ::)  I give up :D :D :D :D :D

Don't you mean:

"Me Not Forget!" - I am sure I have heard that somewhere before.  ::)

Nice cut half by the way.
