Title: My first day surveying the Bronze Age site,
Post by: Al.Thepastfinder, ( Alan ) on April 19, 2010, 07:08:17 AM
Well,  we started our search on the levelled out Bronze age site yesterday, but at this rate we'll still be doing it next year,  The Archy wanted me to turn off the disriminator and go for everything, doh  then  walk a 2 mtr wide strip across the football pitch sticking a marker in at each signal,  then to do it again from the side,   every signal was plotted and recorded ,

i began digging at the marker spots, most was small rubbish that was tangled up in the roots of the grass which i could have done away with easey enough with the discrim on a bit, but he wouldn't have it,  every item had to be recorded,

we worked it out that it'll be about 45 widths to do,  we done three quarters of one yesterday   then i want to search the out outfields around the sides which looks more interesting to me,
my first 2 signals were the best,  the first an alloy Ynysybwl  Small loaf bread token and a Vicki farthing, a got a pic of the token but it came out a bit blurry, the bright sun i think,  l'have to try and get a better one sometime,

I'm going to have to try and get the searching done with a bit of discrim to cut down on the obviouse rubbish and time and mess, ,
quite a bit of time was used on on P.A. work to with the public who kept turning up to see whats happening,

The Local newspaper want to do a 2 page spread on it  sometime,

Alan

Had another day at the site yesterday, but rain showers held us back as they couldn't do the recording in the rain,
moved on a lot better though, only a small bit into the site,  nothing of age or importance yet,
found a few decimals yesterday and an inscribed gold plated signet ring,

Now i hear that G.T.F.M Radio may want to come out and do a bit on it later too,
Alan
