Title: Minelab Saw Tooth Digger
Post by: cadzy on February 13, 2010, 02:55:39 PM
There is a sale on at Joan Allen at the moment and I saw a saw tooth digger advertised with the pouch etc. I was thinking of getting one as my roughneck spade keeps breaking! Does anyone have one of these and are they any good?

Hi, Cadzy. I have a lesche Digger (same animal) and they are good if your digging in lawns or parks, where you want to keep everything super tidy, but for anything else they are to slow and shallow.
I don't want start the obvious but if you keep breaking spades, then your not cutting three sides of your plug. they only have a 8" blade so you cant put enough weight on them to break them if you have cut 3 sides.

Geoff, you haven't stated the obvious :o at the risk of looking a plonker, i must confess to only ever making two cuts and opening a small flap, (i was never one for gardening), I too have killed a spade, now i have a stainless almost indestructible one, perhaps that's why my back is suffering  :-[ :-\, learning all the time as they say :)

I normally cut either a circle or 50p piece shape around the target around 10 inches in width, othertimes i will cut a square when i am more positive of the targets location. I have gone through 4 shovels in total two of them being roughneck mini spades made out of toughened steel etc... perhaps its because i sometimes hit rocks in the ground I know that in the past when Ive stood down on the spade and hit a rock the spade has bent causing a weakness or fracture. Thanks anyway sounds like I wont be getting one of those then :D
