Well 2012 has been and gone and it was probably the least I have got out detecting. Sad

Apart from the DW Rallies, I probably only got out another five or six times at most. I keep all my years finds in a seperate box throughout the year and its the most empty its ever been.

That said though I'm still relatively pleased with the cross section of finds that turned up, particualrly the Venetian Soldino of Nicolo Tron, a Mesolithic flint core end (ID'd by  FLO) and the Heraldic Shield stud.

Roll on 2013 and hopefully more time to spend detecting.

Happy New Year to all our members and guests.

Cheers
Neil

Hi Carling

I think you mean the makers plate off a saddle or horse leather work. They are normally hinged in the middle with an iron pin that often rusts away, resulting in detectorists just finding half. This one though was complete and has the legend  - J Lewis of Bridgend & Maesteg on it.

cheers
