Title: Garret advice!
Post by: celticspikey on August 12, 2014, 09:32:03 PM
Just wondered if any one can give there opinion on either the Ace 150 or 250 when it comes to beach work, my son who is 30 wants to get in to detecting so needs a start up machine I know they are successfully on the fields . Most of you know I've been detecting for longer than I care to mention and like many of you have the top end machines to cover the fields and beaches that said I have never used an Ace so would welcome your experiences on this model. Cheers.......Spikey ;) ;)

Did you miss the bit about him being 30, he got more money than me, took me 30 years of detecting to get were I am with finds and machines, he's a rooky, let him start at the bottom like his old man did ;) :D ;) any way it will probably be a flash in the pan?

??? ???Stick by what I said thou, most of us have top end machines and I certainly include your safari! It was not meant to be critical about entry level machines :)

Hi celticspikey  , I use a 250 and a dues and I find the garrett a good little machine on the dry to damp sand but it will not cope with the wet sand due to its inability to manually ground balance but a good starter machine to learn on

Thanks for your opinion it's what I suspected he will have to get a second hand sovereign if he does beaches.  ;) ;)

If you want one just for beach work, dry/wet sand then this can do the job no problem at all, not sure of their price 2nd hand.

Minelab Quattro MP.
